Boori furniture is designed to withstand the bumps and knocks of family life. We use sustainable solid wood wherever possible and each piece is finished in our environmentally-friendly Eco-Blend Bio-Paint. As testimony to the expert craftsmanship and longevity of our products we offer comprehensive manufacturer’s warranties, however it’s important to give your furniture a little TLC!

From assembly tips to the best cleaning products, we’ve put together a helpful guide on how to protect and care for your Boori kids’ and nursery furniture.

Assembling Your Furniture

Building your baby or child’s new furniture should be stress-free, that’s why we supply you with everything you need for assembly including step by step pictorial instructions to guide you along.

Remember to take it steady and be careful - as our furniture is crafted with solid wood, some pieces might be heavy and require an extra pair of hands! Although of course children will be curious and want to help, we advise they are kept away from the assembly area to keep little fingers safe! Our Smart Assembly chests are an exception to this rule, they are lightweight and require no tools for their fuss-free assembly, making them ideal for older children to help build.

Don’t forget to check every section of your assembled furniture before moving onto the next stage… we’ve all been there! Ensure all bolts and screws are tightened sufficiently (but not over-tightened) and check for loose connections – your little one’s safety is top priority! Remember when moving your furniture, lift it rather than drag it and don’t forget to make sure you have at least one extra pair of hands.

Safely Positioning Your Furniture

When designing your nursery or bedroom layout, think carefully about what type of space you’re working with. High levels of moisture are common in period homes and could encourage mould growth in wooden furniture, this doesn’t provide the most ideal place for your Boori furniture. You also want to avoid extreme changes in temperature, the wood will expand and contract as the temperature varies which can cause damage.

We know we’re stating the obvious here but please keep your furniture (and anything else for that matter) away from open flames, fireplaces and heat sources such as electric or gas heaters…

Boori furniture is finished in a unique natural paint called Eco-Blend Bio-Paint, it’s made with renewable plant extracts including soy bean and corn. This alternative paint means your Boori furniture won’t contribute to the air pollution in your home and it produces a rich finish that enhances the natural beauty of our timber. To avoid discolouration or fading we advise not to place your furniture in direct sunlight.

Wall Strap Kit

All our dressers, chests and wardrobes are supplied with a heavy duty woven fabric wall strap kit. These must be attached to the furniture using the supplied connector bolt then anchored to the wall using a suitable screw and wall plug. Do not overtighten the bolt or screw as this can distort the eyelet.

Cleaning Your Furniture

Whether you have a new arrival, a toddling child or teenagers, your furniture is probably going to get a little grubby. Our simple cleaning advice will keep your furniture in pristine condition.

Our top tip is to have a soft, damp cloth close by. You’ll never know when you need it and the sooner you clean up spillages the better! If you find you need something a little stronger than a damp cloth, we advise using a mild soapy solution and avoid strong household cleaners. Not only do these contain unnecessary harsh chemicals, they can also damage our FSC-Certified timber and natural finish.

Maintaining Your Furniture’s Condition

For best results in maintaining your Boori furniture to its glorious standard, regularly check its condition and fix or report any changes as soon as you can. Our furniture is built to last with family life in mind, however it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for any loose parts for peace of mind!
